Material: E-Surface
Prickley Pete once again outdid himself on his fourth album, adopting the persona of Graveley Guybrush, and belting out 50, that's right, sea shanties from the raging oceans of Jupiter to the galactic waters of dying stars and their neighbors. Never was the artist more vulnerable musically than on this record as the delightful and merry tunes floated from one song to the next like a never-ending lullaby. Initially inspired by the unfinished logs of abandoned starships, the tone was, at first, solemn, a departure for the shapeshifting artist. But, as he continued to read, the heart of each message, each communication, was the pride of captaincy, the familial bond of crewmembers, and the thirst for adventure, whether by space, water, or land. Adding his own recognizable bop, Graveley Guybrush told the story of a down-and-out sailor whose adventure takes a sudden turn into myths, monsters, and money, all with the lighthearted and dance hall vibes he had come to be known for.
