Though their name inspired reverence and terror, The Fall of Material Worlds aspired to give back to their fans after their management increased the price of their debut album twofold over other albums of similar ilk. With Tidal Friction, the band that hailed from the rocky desert of Saturn’s rings insisted that a whopping 16 songs be included in a two-LP set for half the price of a normal album. Besides sending their original record label into a tailspin, they blew listeners’ minds with a magical journey through land (Side A), sea (Side B), air (Side C), and space (Side D). Their precedent paved the way for triple and quadruple albums and the race to create the most content for the right price.
