Ziti Patrol
Original Release Date: 11/14/2078
The rise and fall of music's Gods and Monsters has often repeated itself, often to a parodic degree. However, the stunning transformation of Tony Tagliatelle and the members of Ziti Patrol defies explanation. Their 2077 album, aptly titled 2077, saw a dynamic shift from their formally acoustic-centric beats, nose-diving into a more electric sound that also ditched the analog piano for a plinking synthesizer; and, for all intense and purposes, they had been reborn as a band. Then came 2078. Still riding high from the success of the previous year's album, Tagliatelle began to slip creatively. The newfound beats that had come together so easily now required additional effort, and substances, to decode. An argument in the recording studio forced the lead songwriter onto the streets, a maddening storm pelting the Arts & Letters District with sheets of crushing acid rain. A neon sign in the distance beckoned him; the twisting, glowing glass forming a slice of inviting pizza. Once inside the parlor, the legend goes, Tagliatelle was suddenly born again; according to his bandmates, he was brainwashed. Religious zealots, known as Crustaceans, worshipped the second coming of their Lord & Savory pizza god and were wholly convinced they could open an interdimensional portal that would unleash the hellion screams of demons and angels cast in thick, gooey cheese that would unleash a torrent of marinara to cleanse the universe of its evil- and do-gooders alike. What Ziti Patrol did not understand was that the prophecies were true and that Pizza Stephen, the omnipotent savior of the Crustaceans, was already here. Tony Tagliatelle ceased to exist from that moment and changed forever into his true form. Astoundingly, Ziti Patrol found its way back into the studio, the haunting mantras of their Lord & Savory ushering in a darker era of their prolific career with the album Outpizzad. The Second Helping was upon the universe, and while there were quite a few bouts of insanity that came with the opening of the aforementioned portal, fans continue to gorge themselves on the transcendent melodies of Ziti Patrol and Pizza Stephen.
