“Keep The Cavities”
Stop That Laughin’
Doctor Teeeeth
Original Release Date: 11/04/2554
Doctor Teeeeth had made a name for themselves with their 2551 album ...of Horrors, a furious romp through the many different structures that had caused the band plenty of nightmares throughout their lives (carnivals, insurance adjustment offices, etc.). However, the band strayed heavily from the limelight due to their monstrous mouths and dagger-like teeth, common among Denteenos. They had employed rather crude masks (which also featured dagger-like teeth, much to the confusion of fans) to obscure themselves onstage and during interviews. While the Universe is home to terrifying and awe-inspiring creatures, Doctor Teeeeth's trio had been ridiculed as children as part of the Cosmobury Preparatory School. A hotbed of who's-whos from across the Universe, the school was a destination for the rich and poor (on scholarships) to prepare for higher education. Their appearances and the horror they spawned also unified them into creating the band from the moldy floors of their dorm rooms. Unmasked now, due to the stigma that they had bought into, the freeing effect of their appearances led to a rather explosive sophomore effort. Stop That Laughin' was primarily targeted at those who had ridiculed them, but the others who stood idly by and allowed the punishment to be meted out were far from spared. Tracks such as Culpable Sentient cut through the matter without subtext; this was sonic revenge, and no one was safe. The result was a breakthrough, a landmark album that would shatter sales records in 2554, trouncing all other albums released combined. The voiceless had a raucous chorus, and those who were shunned because of their race, appearance, or home planet were now in charge. The wake of their efforts was teeming with copycats, and, like most revolutions, the fun did not last long before the greedy floated from the decaying depths to lay their bony paws on artists and their struggles. Doctor Teeeeth paved the way, but are we better off now? Or do we still hide behind our own masks, waiting for acceptance to knock down the door for us? Until then, Stop That Laughin' will remind us to be ourselves and, dear Audionauts, smile in the face of adversity, no matter how many teeth we have.
