“Boo Be Gone”
Zadi's Home for Wayward Ghosts
Ghost Town
Original Release Date: 09/09/2046
The success of Wherever There Are Ghosts, There Are Berries in 2044 took its toll on Zadi, the newest member of Ghost Town. Just two years later, she resigned, though flush with Space Bucks, to live a quieter life. The raucous road warriors of Big Vicious, Sorry Sally, Good Luck Thomas, Gaspar, and Alvin had hit the dizzying highs of stardom once more, but the fear of success and the horror of decline were all too real. Zadi decided that, rather than try to replicate the band's sonic domination, she would quit while she was ahead and redistribute her newfound wealth. An orphan like the rest of Ghost Town, she returned to her hometown and opened Zadi's Home for Wayward Ghosts, an encouraging and inspirational way for abandoned ghosts, young and old, to find their place, just as she had in her brief excursion with Ghost Town. The Home, at first, was a great success, attracting lost souls from across the Universe, but space and resources quickly became an issue as the funds began to run low and the waitlist dragged on. Her ghostly back against the wall, she was threatened with the harsh reality of having to close the Home's doors, an ironic twist given her and Ghost Town's own experiences with underfunded foster care. As the bank manager drove his luxury vehicle down the winding dirt road to the main office, Zadi contemplated fighting back, perhaps making the manager "disappear" for an eternity. As juicy and exhilarating as the violence seemed, she would not need its bloody conclusion as Big Vicious, Sorry Sally, Good Luck Thomas, Gaspar, and Alvin formed a blockade before her. They had not told her that they had been secretly recording a new album of which all the sales, in perpetuity, would be directed towards the Home. The first matter was to pay off the bank and secure the building and grounds in her name. Smelling blood in the water, the bank manager was disappointed he would not be able to repossess the property, but the prospect of getting his money (and never having to deal with the ghosts again) won him over. Zadi's Home for Wayward Ghosts has become a staple of cause marketing, an explosion of charitable giving that, to this day, keeps on keeping on. Sales of the album directly impacted the Home, of which there are now 87 scattered across the Universe, with more under construction. In classic fashion, the album is yet another exploration of abandonment and isolation, twanging with the spooky yet toe-tappingly refreshing perspective Ghost Town is known for. Bubbly synth guides listeners through the doors and into the hearts of ghosts who felt forgotten but have found camaraderie and purpose. All new residents receive a copy of the album, and during the welcoming tour, visitors will pass a gallery wall in honor of the Home's history. And, dear Audionauts, you can bet that at the top of that wall is a photo of Zadi, not alone, but with her merry band of beatmakers: Ghost Town.
