Mixed
Original Release Date: 03/29/2422
The saxophone got its long-overdue resurgence on Mixed's highly anticipated second album Greens, named after the band’s favorite restaurant during the recording of their debut. Failing to make a splash (its release coincided with the Sneeze Guard Wars), it was almost lost to time until collectors began circulating bootleg copies amongst themselves. The seemingly forgotten sounds of the album inspired a renewed interest in the late 20th Century and the antics of the 1980s jazz-fusion takeover. It was not without its modernity, using the synthesizer to focus on the melody instead of letting it run wild. The formula produced a perfect melding of long-lost sounds and future musings, which is a testament to its staying power. We’re still talking about Greens today, despite its blip on the radar of most listeners.
