Running Dog Nebula
Original Release Date: 12/18/2917
"War is inevitable; and, quite fun." Those were the last words of General Tukk Invermup, the commander of the armies that formed the Intergalactic Allied Expeditionary Force (IAEF). By the time the smoke cleared, all that was left was his boots. It was a cautious tale of zealotry and hubris. Now, this incident alone was not the entire basis for Dogs of War, but rather a long-lost battle fought on Earth in the early 20th century, dubbed World War I by Earthlings and the One Second War by others (for its brevity in Universal time-keeping). The bloody conflict claimed many lives in the dirty trenches, necessitating warfare advancements that would change the pathway of Earth for centuries. This was the foundation for the album, and Running Dog Nebula saw an opportunity to both glorify and condemn the warmongers of the past and future. The somewhat upbeat tone throughout is punctuated by a sense of dread as if a digital mortar is whistling straight for your position. While Dogs of War saw mild success, Running Dog Nebula had essentially put a target on their own backs as the winning and losing governments, which had sanctioned the wars, came looking for someone to punish, rather than look inward at their own mistakes. Sadly, this was the final album from the quartet, as freedom was much more satisfying than a life of breaking radioactive rocks. We salute Running Dog Nebula for their bravery and for shining a light on the terrifying origins of wars that put good people in bad situations.
