Berenices Brew
Original Release Date: 09/12/5031 (0031 AM)
The story of Juniper and Violet Berenice is known to most creatures of the universe. Their nursery business, which sold custom teas out of a roadside stand, changed forever when their lovely army of plants began to vocalize, subsequently birthing the legends we know and love. Their second album, Berenices Brew, was touted, for centuries, as a sophomore effort. However, no evidence had existed before of their debut, though some songs that were not on the album had been performed live. Bootleggers coveted these unrecorded songs—live versions had been passed around for some time, but each successive copy degraded the once pure tones—and conspiracies abounded about a true debut. Audionauts, we wish we could report that we have found that album in all its polished glory, however, what we present today is as close as we believe we will ever get. Simply titled Demos, this collection of unreleased tracks from Berenices Brew may add fuel to the fire of another album floating in the ether, but provides a missing piece of the puzzle of Juniper and Violet. Featuring a more upbeat tempo, the signature synth whines and hissing drum beats remain, allowing a photosynthetic glimpse into what they would become. The four songs featured on this release have never seen the light of day—not even live recordings exist—and we hope that this revives interest in the duo, though they have hung up their shears for the time being.
