A Wise & Savage Voyage
Original Release Date: 09/25/4040
We lost so many, dear Audionauts, to the reckless Funk Wars of the early 4000s. Those who controlled the Funk controlled a sizeable portion of the universe. The Funk in question was the rancid, goo-based byproduct of the blue-blooded Nurwalks. Their domed exoskeletons and prickly appendages were coursing with Funk, but could only be harvested once a Nurwalk had perished, the internal goo becoming a sickly, red ooze that the aristocracy claimed was a cure-all. For nearly 100 years, and nine separate wars, the Funk changed hands, from the Weneeds to the Gottahaavs; back and forth, endless slaughter between them. And, stuck in the middle, the Nurwalks, who, without any natural defenses, were bred to continue the pipeline of blood money. A Wise & Savage Voyage was the collective name behind several unidentified artists who banded together to stop the Weneeds and the Gottahaavs from harvesting the poor creatures at the center of this conflict. Pooling their money together, they enlisted the help of a single, brave participant who was sent deep into the universe's unexplored DZs (dead zones) in search of a natural element to replace the Funk. Caught in the middle of the ninth Funk War, the astronaut beamed recordings of their encounters with the warring factions, inspiring A Wise & Savage Voyage to set the sounds to music to drown out the din of war. Sadly, the quest for a replacement for the Funk ended in tragedy, the transmissions suddenly stopping, the final words translated only as "I have come too far to fail now." A chilling end, indeed, as the Nurwalks were completely eradicated, the Funk Wars ending almost as abruptly as they started. Close Encounters, the collection of songs reworked from the transmissions of the lost explorer, was only publicly available for a short time as the sadness of the Nurwalks end was too much. If you can bear the pain of a lost species, the riveting sounds of Close Encounters will send chills down your spine (if you have one) and put you squarely in the mouth of madness. Long live the Nurwalks.
