Inspiration can come from the tiniest of seeds, just like the cacti that inhabit the home planet of the gloomy quartet The Cured. Birds carry plucked seeds all across the desert valley hoping to collect their shiny exteriors for mating season. However, with torrential rain hitting in the winter, the seeds grow exponentially during spring, creating monument-like plants that dominate the skyline. Everything from food to medicine to clothing is made from the cacti and shared with the inhabitants of Saguaro XII. An ode to the versatile giant, Cacti Don’t Lie features The Cured at their most vulnerable, stripping away the nonsense echoing that dominated their previous release Hail Colossus! Touted as a return to form, though they had never assumed this form quite yet, it inevitably solidified The Cured in the minds of misunderstood teenagers everywhere.
